Sister Laura Gemignani is a Comboni Missionary Sister and serves as the Administrator for the St. Teresa Hospital Nzara. She and the Sisters oversee the busy hospital located in the Tombura-Yambio Diocese. The hospital provides general, maternal, child, and infant medical care and specializes in TB, HIV/AIDS, and leprosy treatment. Sudan Relief Fund works closely with Sr. Laura and visits the hospital regularly to assess pressing needs.
Sr. Laura previously spent 28 years working in Ethiopia and has been working in South Sudan for four years. Reflecting on the intensity and relentlessness of the ongoing violence and need in the region, she lamented that, “…those decades in Ethiopia are equal to only four years in South Sudan.”
